Accounting & Auditing

With more than 330,000 members, the AICPA is the national professional association for CPA’s in the United States. It sets ethical standards for the profession and U.S. auditing standards for audits of private companies; federal, state and local governments; and non-profit organizations.

To help CPAs meet the challenges of performing quality audits in the complex and unique area of employee benefit plans, the AICPA has established the Employee Benefit Plan Audit quality Center (EBPAQC). EBPAQC is a firm-based voluntary membership center for firms that audit employee benefit plans. Employee benefit plan audits include pension, health and welfare, and 401(k) plans subject to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) under the regulatory authority of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).

The PCAOB is a private sector, nonprofit corporation created by the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, to oversee the auditors of public companies in order to protect the interests of its investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, fair, and independent audit reports.
